      Defining 'Junior Military Officer'

When a student graduates from one of the service academies (West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy) or graduates from a traditional university and was in ROTC, he or she owes the military 3-5 years immediately as an Officer. Their experiences during that time may include:

  • Relocation 2-3 times
  • Extensive travel
  • An average work week of 60-70 hours
  • Direct supervision of 20-200 people
  • Accountability for millions of dollars of equipment, with total responsibility for maintenance, safety and operation
  • Project management responsibility in areas such as systems integration, network administration, new equipment fielding, acquisitions, budgeting, manpower planning and training
